The Texas Longhorns have had a strong week in the transfer portal, and that continued Tuesday.
Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Kendrick Blackshire will be heading to Austin to play for Steve Sarkisian.
Hayes Fawcett of On3 reported the news Tuesday evening.

As Fawcett notes, Blackshire totaled 25 tackles, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in his time with the Crimson Tide and will have one year of eligibility remaining. He made a career-high 16 tackles this past season for Alabama, with a season-high three coming against both Texas and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Blackshire joins a Texas defense that was among the nation’s best last season, allowing 17.5 points per game, which was the fewest in the Big 12 by far and 12th-best in the country.
Their 321 yards allowed per game was 21st in the country and also best in the Big 12, so Blackshire is joining a very strong unit, though it is worth noting that Texas will be in the SEC next season and not the Big 12.
The Texas native is happy to be back in his home state, it seems. “The coaching staff, Sark, and being back home in the greatest state, Texas, it means a lot to me. Also being with a group of people who want to see me succeed and be successful,” Blackshire told On3.
