It’s safe to say that the Utah Utes proved themselves against the USC Trojans this season. In the two matchups between the two teams this year, Utah went 2-0 against the Trojans this season, beating USC by a score of 43-42 during the regular season before blowing them out by a score of 47-24 in the Pac-12 Championship Game on Saturday. But apparently, that wasn’t enough to convince one AP Poll voter.

Even despite Saturday’s blowout, AP Poll voter Brian Fonseca of NJ.com ranked the Utes No. 18 in his latest poll on Sunday while ranking USC all the way at No. 4 – presumably ignoring the results of this weekend’s game and the game that happened during the regular season.

“Cheers to the AP voter who had USC at #4 and Utah at #18, an unconventional choice to be sure,” the Reddit CFB Twitter account posted on Sunday.

Fonseca’s vote certainly caught the attention of the college football world, who absolutely blasted him for his decision on Sunday afternoon.

Fonseca never addressed or explained his controversial AP Poll vote, even despite getting absolutely blasted on Twitter. But it’s safe to say that decision cost him a lot of credibility in the eyes of many college football fans.
