Will Bobby Petrino reappear at the University of Arkansas?

According to an ESPN insider, it might not be a farfetched thought.

Pete Thamel reported on Tuesday that the university is vetting the former disgraced head coach for a potential job as the team’s offensive coordinator. Texas A&M hired Petrino last offseason under head coach Jimbo Fisher. A&M fired Fisher a few weeks ago, so Petrino will likely end up as collateral.

“Arkansas is vetting hiring former head coach Bobby Petrino as the school’s next offensive coordinator,” Thamel posted. “Petrino has indicated in the recruiting space that he’s in the mix for an SEC coordinator job.”

The Razorbacks had an abysmal season this past year. Arkansas went 4-8 with a dismal 1-7 record against the Southeastern Conference. So Sam Pittman will have to try and get creative to try and right the ship.

But… Hiring Bobby Petrino? Surely there has to be a better way to get to Point B. Petrino disgraced himself infamously more than once on his way to and out of Arkansas the first time. Nobody’s forgotten that, and you’d figure that would be indelible. Shame is increasingly harder to come by nowadays, though.

And so, we’ll see if this plays out and results in Petrino’s hiring. That would be an absurd thing to happen, but again, these are the times we live in.
