While Auburn fans have made it clear who their No 1 choice is for their head coaching position, Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders, Fox Sports college football analyst Bruce Feldman raised a few eyebrows Saturday with his comments on the situation.
Although Feldman thinks that Sanders could be a great choice for Auburn, Feldman wondered if the school would be willing to give up control of its program to him.
“Would the big money people there feel totally comfortable with him running the show at Auburn?” Feldman asked.

As Feldman pointed out, Sanders has total control at Jackson State and runs the program the way he wants without interference.
Clearly, the only way Sanders would even consider this position is if the same thing was offered to him as well. The Auburn Board of Trustees have a huge say so as to how their football program is run and by whom, but over the years, they have bumbled the hiring and firing of coaches.
Former head coach Bryan Harsin will be paid $15 million not to coach. Back in the early 2000s when Tommy Tuberville was head coach, it was quite apparent that he was about to be fired, the board of trustees tried to hire then Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino before they fired Tuberville.
Harsin was plagued with rumors of an affair and alleged bad treatment of Tiger players, which almost got him fired at the end of last season. With their new hire, this will be Auburn’s 5th coach in 15 years.
The baggage that Auburn carries may even be too much for Deion Sanders to handle.
