It was a rollercoaster of a season for the UCLA Bruins under head coach Chip Kelly this year. Despite a strong start to the season, the Bruins hit a lull that had many speculating that Kelly could be fired. Though a late-season win over the USC Trojans seemed to quiet that noise a little bit, the questions still remain. But Kelly doesn’t seem worried about it.
During a recent press conference, Chip Kelly insisted that he is not concerned with whether or not the disappointing end to the season impacts his future with the team.
“I don’t worry about that,” Kelly said according to On3. “I don’t worry about the dynamic. I know this team is 24-13 in the last three years and they compete every single day and I’m proud of every single kid in that locker room and I think they represent this school the right way.”
“So, we understand where we are and we understand that we have to win games. I get that,” Kelly continued. “That’s part of the deal, but I don’t think about those things. I don’t worry about those things. That’s never been my MO.”
Kelly will now lead the Bruins in the LA Bowl against the Boise State Broncos to finish off the season.
