I’m just going to go ahead and say what everyone is thinking: The College Football Playoff Committee made a huge mistake by not letting Alabama in. It’s quite obvious that they made a huge mistake by letting TCU in over Alabama.

Yes, Alabama had two losses by the tiniest of margins, but by the end of the season, they were playing good football and deserved a chance at Georgia.

TCU didn’t even win their own conference championship game, which they were favored in, and that same team, Kansas State, was blown out in the Sugar Bowl by, you guessed it, Alabama. Meanwhile, TCU got obliterated by Georgia in the CFP national championship game.

All of this leads to the most pertinent question: Do we want the four “best” teams in the College Football Playoff or the four “most deserving?”

Clearly, the CFP committee choose the four most deserving. You won’t convince anyone who watched Monday night’s game that Alabama couldn’t have beaten TCU, Michigan, or even Ohio State, for that matter.

They may not have beaten Georgia, but you can almost guarantee that they would have given the Bulldogs all they are worth in that game. Against TCU, Georgia didn’t even have to break a sweat in the first half and this game was over. The Horned Frogs looked slow and overmatched throughout this game.

This also brings up another question about what we want college football to be. TCU got into the playoffs not because they are better but because they only lost one game, which happened to be in their conference championship game. But hey, they only lost one game and that’s all that matters right?

College football fans cried for a four-team playoff to stop the SEC’s dominance. It didn’t. Georgia won back-to-back championships.

This will be the fourth time in a row the SEC will win the national championship in football and now the CFP committee will increase the field to 12, which will only give the SEC more opportunities to continue its dominance. Smart move, CFP committee.

So, get prepared for more games like this in the future. And more SEC teams winning the national championship. But just remember, this is what you asked for.
