What happens now?

That’s the question college football fans everywhere are wondering after No. 8 Alabama stunned No. 1 Georgia in the SEC Championship Saturday.

Everyone has been speculating about this scenario for a couple of weeks, as the showdown loomed. After the Crimson Tide’s 27-24 win over the Bulldogs, both teams are now 12-1 this season.

Even though Alabama was ranked No. 8 in the CFP Committee rankings, many fans wonder how you can leave the SEC champions out of the four-team playoff.

Others argue the committee can’t leave out the Bulldogs, the back-to-back national champions who had won 29 straight games until Saturday’s loss.

And if you put both Alabama and Georgia in the playoff, how do you explain that to the other deserving teams the Crimson Tide would have to leap over in the poll?

Or does the CFP Committee leave both teams out, a once unthinkable prospect for the powerhouse SEC?

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart made an impassioned plea that Georgia belongs in the field, saying it’s the four best teams, not the four most deserving.
