What happens now?
That’s the question college football fans everywhere are wondering after No. 8 Alabama stunned No. 1 Georgia in the SEC Championship Saturday.
Everyone has been speculating about this scenario for a couple of weeks, as the showdown loomed. After the Crimson Tide’s 27-24 win over the Bulldogs, both teams are now 12-1 this season.
Even though Alabama was ranked No. 8 in the CFP Committee rankings, many fans wonder how you can leave the SEC champions out of the four-team playoff.
Others argue the committee can’t leave out the Bulldogs, the back-to-back national champions who had won 29 straight games until Saturday’s loss.
And if you put both Alabama and Georgia in the playoff, how do you explain that to the other deserving teams the Crimson Tide would have to leap over in the poll?
Or does the CFP Committee leave both teams out, a once unthinkable prospect for the powerhouse SEC?
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart made an impassioned plea that Georgia belongs in the field, saying it’s the four best teams, not the four most deserving.

There are no easy answers, but X/Twitter worked overtime to debate the issue.
Georgia lost to Bama while Texas beat Bama by 10 in Bama. Sound logic Skip

So,
Washington, Oregon, Texas and probably Florida State?

More so about SHOULD they make it in, as opposed to do they deserve to make it in.
Everyone in the world knows 13-0 FSU gets run off the field by 50 in their CFP matchup with Tate Rodemaker at QB. Let's not waste people's time. https://t.co/2m6unA8Fbk

You have chaos!!
If the committee leaves the SEC out of CFP, IMHO it’s nonsense.

Can’t wait to see FSU fans reactions tomorrow when they go undefeated and STILL don’t make the cfp
What I assume the rankings will be tm(assuming a UM win)
1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. Alabama
4. Georgia— Noah (@noahvelli) December 3, 2023
Hard to fathom the committee leaving the SEC out, but If FSU wins, they should be in the CFP. FSU & Alabama have a common opponent in LSU & the Seminoles beat them by more, so there's that. If FSU loses, Alabama should get in. My 2 pennies worth.

Georgia has been eliminated from CFP consideration.

I don’t know if the committee do it. But Georgia should get left out of the CFP. I’d normally say Florida State belongs in if they win, but it just feels different without Jordan Travis.
My 4: Michigan (assuming they win), Texas, Alabama and Washington (in no particular order).
