The Clemson Tigers lost a heartbreaker in overtime to No. 4 Florida State, 31-24. And at halftime, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney threw his defensive coordinator under the bus.
Swinney was not happy with his defense’s play Saturday and laid it all out at halftime for the world to see, giving ABC sideline reporter Molly McGrath an earful about his defense and how disappointed he was.

“Well, we probably need to get out of the three-man rush in the two minutes to start with, really disappointed in that,” Swinney stated. “He’s too good to hold the ball and got guys to get open if you give him the time. That’s probably the worst thing we did was in that two-minute drive.”
“I’m really disappointed, but hey it’s two good football teams a battle like you expected.”
Harsh words from the head coach, and it’s rare that you see any head coach throw his assistants under the bus like that, especially on camera, that’s usually reserved for either after the game or in private.
But Swinney knew the opportunity for the Tigers in what would’ve been a season-changing victory. Instead, it was a frustrating overtime loss.
