When the Colorado Buffaloes hired Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders as their next head coach, they obviously expected that he would be able to ramp up the team’s recruiting efforts. But unfortunately for Sanders, he got some pretty horrible news on that front this week at the game’s most important positions.

In a horrible turn of events for Deion Sanders and Colorado, the team lost both of its quarterback commits this week as 2025 four-star quarterback Antwann Hill Jr. and 2024 three-star quarterback Danny O’Neil both decommitted from the Colorado football program in back-to-back days with Hill announcing his decision on Sunday and O’Neil announcing on Monday.

“BREAKING: Class of 2024 QB Danny O’Neil tells me he has Decommitted from Colorado. The 6’1 190 QB from Indianapolis, IN had been Committed to the Buffaloes since March. Was an Elite 11 Finalist. Colorado loses their 2025 & 2024 QB in back to back days,” recruiting expert Hayes Fawcett of On3 said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, this is pretty horrible news for Sanders and Colorado as players continue to leave their recruiting classes, and the college football world had a lot to say about it on social media as a result.

To make matters worse, the early signing period is in just a few weeks, so there’s not much time to find a replacement for O’Neil.
