Saturday, former President Donald Trump was in attendance at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa for the annual rivalry college football game between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones.

Not everyone was excited to see him there.

Trump is one of several candidates vying to be the 2024 Republican nominee for President of the United States who were at the game. Along with Trump, Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Asa Hutchinson all attended the game. The hope was to endear themselves to the Iowans on hand so that they’d vote for them in November’s primary.

Trump hasn’t done much stumping in Iowa this time around, presuming that his strong poll numbers will carry him. Meanwhile, many of his rivals have been working the state for months to try to make inroads with constituents. Trump even skipped the recent Republican debate, presuming he had nothing to gain by attending.

He might be correct that he doesn’t need to work hard to win the Iowa primary, but it was clear on Saturday that there are plenty of people in the state who aren’t big fans of his.

As Trump appeared inside the stadium to find his seat, he was met with a sea of Iowa State and Iowa fans, some of whom cheered for him while many also booed.

“Wow. Trump was just audibly booed at an Iowa football game. In a state that voted for him by 8 points in 2020,” said Brian Tyler Cohen.

The video made the rounds on social media and garnered a lot of reactions.
