The Georgia Bulldogs will be without a preseason All-SEC first-team wide receiver Saturday.
As the Bulldogs enter SEC play with Saturday’s showdown against the South Carolina Gamecocks, the back-to-back national champions will missing Ladd McConkey. On3′ Matt Zenitz was the first to report the news that Georgia would be without a key contributor, and the news was later confirmed by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

McConkey, who was an All-SEC second-team receiver last season, has missed the previous two contests with a back injury. In 2022, he hauled in 58 catches for 762 yards with seven touchdowns. In Georgia’s 65-7 National Championship win over TCU, McConkey recorded five receptions for 88 yards with two touchdowns.
“We’re trying everything we can to get him back,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said earlier this week, via On3. “He’s trying everything he can to get back.”
McConkey has yet to appear in a game this season.
Georgia is set to play host to South Carolina later this afternoon, as the Gamecocks enter Saturday’s game as 27.5-point underdogs.
