It was announced Monday that the four finalists for the 2022 Heisman Trophy would be Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett, TCU quarterback Max Duggan, Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud, and USC quarterback Caleb Williams.
One person who was missing was Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker. The AP SEC Offensive Player of the Year was left off the list and that’s just wrong.
Hendon Hooker should have been invited to New York.

Hooker was the main reason for the Vols’ resurgence this year and he deserves recognition. He threw for over 3,000 yards and 27 touchdowns and would have gotten more if he wasn’t injured during the South Carolina game.
What may have hurt his chances was how he and the Vols looked against Georgia. The Bulldogs sacked him seven times. Despite that, that still shouldn’t have kept him off the list.
Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker is the Southeastern Conference offensive player of the year and Alabama linebacker Will Anderson Jr. was named the top defensive player for the second straight year.

Another name that was left off was Alabama quarterback Bryce Young The defending Heisman holder also threw for over 3,000 yards and 27 touchdowns. Yes, his numbers are down from last year. However, he was also injured throughout the season, and with the Tide having lost two games, that may have also hurt his chances. Still, many college football fans still think he is the best player in America.
The Heisman voters may have made a huge mistake by not even inviting two well-deserving candidates, both of whom put together fantastic seasons to be the AP’s first- and second-team All-SEC quarterbacks.
