Jim Harbaugh might be on his way out at the University of Michigan. Rumors have swirled that he’ll take up an NFL job, potentially with the Los Angeles Chargers.

However, before he does any of that, Harbaugh made sure to make good on a promise.

According to a post online made by Todd J. Anson, Harbaugh and his wife Sarah appeared on Sunday at a Michigan hospital. There, Harbaugh delivered a special gift to a very special individual. He presented a very young fan, dealing with a form of cancer called neuroblastoma, with the game ball from the Rose Bowl Game. Harbaugh, quarterback J.J. McCarthy, and the Michigan team had dedicated the game to the young fan.

“Jim & Sarah popped in Sunday unexpectedly to deliver our little neuroblastoma cancer patient, Grandson Knox, the Rose Bowl Game in our victory over Bama after Jim & JJ dedicated the game to him. We also celebrated the National Championship win! We are deeply grateful,” Anson said.

This is obviously a great gesture by Harbaugh, his wife, and the Michigan football program. Oftentimes, stories like this give everyone perspective on the important things. It also highlights just how powerful sports can be for some people. It’s the great unifier oftentimes for a reason.

The gracious gesture made the rounds online, and many had great things to say about it.
