Earlier this month, Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh led the program to the College Football Playoff title, giving the Wolverines their first national championship in over two decades. But now, it’s looking like the school might be having a hard time keeping him
Late Monday night, prominent Michigan insider and author John U. Bacon reported that the current contract negotiations between Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines were “at an impasse” as Harbaugh continues to entertain potential NFL opportunities.
“The Harbaugh-Michigan negotiations are at an impasse, at least for now. It isn’t money – plenty there – but the clauses: what should be covered by immunity (e.g. cheeseburgers, etc.), and what not? Therein lies the rub. Stay tuned,” Bacon said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, this is pretty horrible news for any Michigan fans hoping to see him return to the team next season, especially after he interviewed for the Los Angeles Chargers head coaching vacancy on Monday. As a result, people had a lot to say about it on social media.
Warde trying to nitpick at silly clauses with a coach that just won a national championship. Sick! https://t.co/uap4Fxw2jn

Michigan should give him total immunity. He got Michigan a national title and Michigan has a stupid amount of money.
I promise, it’s worth any “risk” to keep him around, considering the alternative – watching him lead a team to the Super Bowl while Michigan gradually declines. https://t.co/aqnqokXaEd

it's weird to me that michigan and harbaugh are both treating potential ncaa sanctions as if they're a real thing both parties need to be worried about https://t.co/QS6DpGGuw2

Jim Harbaugh has said he and the team are innocent.
He just won Michigan their first outright national championship since 1948.
Michigan should stand behind Harbaugh 100% and the contract should literally be "whatever you want Jim"
This is troubling and simply not cool https://t.co/PsId14Q5Ft

Basically "if you and the university get hammered by the NCAA for what happened the last 3 seasons we don't want to have to pay your buyout" type stuff https://t.co/XqMzZ11xyP

What does Warde Manuel do besides make things worse? https://t.co/nY0eInhEuO

We’ll have to see whether Harbaugh and Michigan can get past this contract stalemate or he goes to the NFL.
