Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders and athletic director Rick George Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Keyshawn Johnson hasn’t been at Fox Sports and on the set of Undisputed for even a week, but he’s already revving up the hot-take machine.

Johnson said that he believes that Colrdoao could have one of the best coaching staffs in the country. It’s an extremely bold claim for Johnson to make considering the Buffaloes have yet to play a game and will open up their season on Saturday, Sept. 2 in Fort Worth against TCU.

“The coaching staff is probably in my opinion, just looking at it, could be the best in the country,” Johnson said, via Buffs Beat of Sports Illustarted’s FanNation. “But the roster makeup, when you look at it, Deion came in there and said I’m bringing my Louis Vuitton. You guys, some of y’all are not going to be here, and he completely turned things upside down.”

And while Johnson said “could,” Colorado is going to need to have one of the better coaching staffs in the country, as they have a record 86 new players. As Johnson stated, Sanders completely turned things upside down in Boulder and he’s relying on a strong coaching staff to help him do so.

“Let’s talk about the staff,” Johnson told Skip Bayless. “Because if the staff is doing the right thing, [Sanders] has a number of former head coaches both from the NFL and college. Guys like Tim Brewster [and] Pat Shurmur. Then you think about Sean Lewis, the former head coach at Kent State, who’s now calling the offense for Deion. Dennis Thurman, former defensive coordinator, and longtime assistant both in the NFL, as well as in college football.

“Here’s the kicker for you. Mike Zimmer’s floating around somewhere on the campus. It’s not an official capacity, but he’s somewhere helping out. So, when you have that makeup, you know how to get guys in and out of certain situations.”

All eyes will be on the Buffaloes in Sanders’ first season as head coach. And while expectations are high, it seems like he’s set himself up for success with his coaching staff, though that remains to be seen.
