The Georgia Bulldogs may be the No. 1 team in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, but that doesn’t mean that they looked like it in practice this week.
During his press conference this week, Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart ripped his team for their performance during their practice on Tuesday, saying he was “disappointed” in what he witnessed.
“It was today,” Smart said, regarding if it’s a challenge to keep the Bulldogs’ eye on the prize at times. “I don’t know if it was because of that. I don’t know what it was because of. They must be feeling themselves a little bit. They must be feeling themselves a little bit. I’m a little disappointed.
” I don’t think it has anything to do with Tennessee. I think it’s just a disappointing practice. We’ve had about five really good Tuesdays in a row. They were not good today.”
The Bulldogs overtook the Ohio State Buckeyes for the No. 1 spot in the latest College Football Playoff rankings and are firmly in contention for their third consecutive national title. But if they’re going to contend for a title again, it’s clear that Smart thinks their practice habits will have to improve a bit in the future.
