Ohio State Syndication: The Columbus Dispatch

After a successful regular season, the Missouri Tigers earned the right to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl on New Year’s Day. And it sounds like the Tigers are expecting quite a battle from the Buckeyes.

During a press conference this week, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz praised Ohio State ahead of their Cotton Bowl matchup, making it clear that his team is excited for the challenge of taking on such a talented Buckeye football team.

“It’s going to be a really tall challenge,” Drinkwitz said. “Very good football team. Coach Day does an excellent job. So, that’s going to be a great challenge. I know our team was excited. The quality of opponent you get is always a lot of fun. Obviously, they’ve got some really good players. So, that will bring our attention to focus pretty quickly.

Of course, this Ohio State team will likely look much different than the one that played throughout the regular season as former starting quarterback Kyle McCord has entered the transfer portal and is leaving the program. Additionally, it’s likely several players will opt out from the game as they prepare for the upcoming NFL Draft.

Still, it will be a high-level matchup between two talented teams. We’ll have to see who comes out on top.
