Following the Alabama Crimson Tide’s stunning loss to the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday afternoon, Tennessee fans stormed the field in celebration, causing all sorts of chaos and damage. The scene also led to a shocking moment when Alabama wide receiver Jermaine Burton appeared to strike two fans on the field. Nick Saban addressed the issue on Wednesday.

During his weekly press conference, Saban said the team is dealing with any discipline for Burton “internally” and discussed the “difficult circumstances” when a team rushes the field.

“We handle discipline issues internally and that’s the way we’ll handle this,” Saban said. “But as I said today … The league has tried to control people from rushing the field. It’s a difficult circumstance for the league, difficult circumstances for the people on the field. But we have to go through those difficult circumstances and still respect other people, and I think that’s on us to do that and it’s a lesson for all of us to learn relative to this.”

Saban did not announce any punishment for Burton, a Georgia Bulldogs transfer receiver who has 18 catches for 266 yards and three touchdowns so far this season. Given that, it’s assumed he will play in this week’s game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
