The Ohio State Buckeyes had a disappointing end to their college football season last week when they fell to the Georgia Bulldogs by just one point in the Peach Bowl when a potential game-winning field goal sailed wide left. But as the Buckeyes prepare to make another run at the national championship next season, they got some big news from a couple of returning key players.

On Monday, starting tight end Cade Stover, who missed much of the College Football Playoff semifinal game against Georgia with back spasms, announced that he will be returning to Ohio State next season.

“I AM COMING BACK,” Stover said in a tweet on Monday.

Stover is Ohio State’s top tight end and is one of the most important and versatile pieces on the offense given his ability as both a blocker and a receiver down the field.

While Stover’s return was a massive decision, the Buckeyes have another key returning player as hybrid wide receiver and running back Xavier Johnson announced on social media that he will also be returning to Ohio State next season for his sixth season.

Johnson began his Ohio State career as a walk-on, but earned a scholarship and has become an integral part of both special teams and the Buckeye offense, even catching a deep touchdown pass during the Peach Bowl.

The Buckeyes will once again be national title contenders next season, and these two returning players will certainly help their chances.
