While the Oregon Ducks will be without Heisman finalist quarterback Bo Nix next year when he graduates, the program has already found his replacement.
Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Dillon Gabriel will be heading from Norman to Eugene to replace Nix next season, first reported Saturday morning by Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.
Gabriel threw for 3,660 yards and accounted for 42 touchdowns this season for the Sooners.

Gabriel confirmed the news shortly after the report on Saturday morning, tweeting an image of himself in a Ducks uniform with the caption “MARCUS APPROVED” referring to fellow Hawaiian and legendary Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Gabriel’s college career has been interesting. He originally committed to the UCF Knights in 2019, following in the footsteps of high school teammate McKenzie Milton. He played in 26 games over three seasons at UCF, leading the team to the 2019 Gasparilla Bowl and 2020 Boca Raton Bowl. Gabriel’s 2021 season, his final at UCF was cut short after just three games when he suffered a season-ending broken collarbone. His 70 touchdown passes as a Knight place him fifth all-time in school history.
Gabriel transferred from UCF to UCLA after the 2021 season, but once Caleb Williams transferred from Oklahoma, Gabriel changed his mind and transferred to the Sooners. His 55 touchdown passes in two seasons puts him fifth all-time at Oklahoma, as well.
Gabriel will have just one year of eligibility at Oregon.
