The Texas Longhorns had a pretty disappointing end to their season when they fell to the Washington Huskies in the semifinal of the College Football Playoff, but they certainly got some good news heading into next season.

On Thursday afternoon, starting quarterback Quinn Ewers announced that he would be returning to the Texas Longhorns next season instead of deciding to enter the NFL Draft.

“Ever since I was a kid, I’ve dreamed of playing quarterback at the University of Texas,” Ewers said in a video he posted on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

“I couldn’t be more thankful to all my teammates and coaches, and I’m beyond grateful to be in the position that I’m in. God has shown me who I truly am these past two years that I’ve been here. And through the ups and downs these fans and this university has always had my back. With that being said, I’m coming back. Hook ’em.”

Ewers would likely have been one of the top quarterbacks in the draft had he decided to leave Texas. But instead, he will be back for the Longhorns as he tries to lead them to a national championship.
