On Sunday afternoon, the College Football Playoff selection committee made a pretty shocking decision, selecting the Alabama Crimson Tide for the playoff field over the Florida State Seminoles, even though the Seminoles were undefeated and Alabama was not. As a result, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was not happy.
Following the committee’s controversial decision on Sunday afternoon, Ron DeSantis – a noted Florida State fan – took to social media to express his displeasure that the Seminoles were not included in the College Football Playoff this season.
“What we learned today is that you can go undefeated and win your conference championship game, but the College Football Playoff committee will ignore these results. Congratulations to @FSUFootball on an outstanding season and winning the ACC championship!” DeSantis said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

It’s clear that DeSantis was absolutely furious with the decision from the College Football Playoff selection committee, and the college football world had a lot to say about his words on social media.
I went from feeling kind of bad because i respect them as a Hurricanes fan….to officially laughing at FSU https://t.co/XXT6nckNZT

Mad an unelected committee came in and made a decision that hurt Florida universities? https://t.co/gAPwxd3RWQ

Are you talking about Liberty, who went undefeated (13-0) & won their conference championship? They get to play Oregon in a bowl game, where they will lose 70-0, & Florida State gets to play Georgia where they will lose 70-0 & prove they had no place in the playoffs. https://t.co/cR3iz4aASR

DeSantis, of course, is currently seeking the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential election, but he trails former United States President Donald Trump in the polls by quite a wide margin.
