Saturday was a big day in the state of Iowa as the Cy-Hawk Trophy was once again up for grabs between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones.

It was also a huge day for the Republican candidates vying to be the party’s nominee in 2024 as several of them decided to attend the game.

Along with Donald Trump, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Asa Hutchinson, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was also in attendance for the big game.

The hope for DeSantis had to be that he would appeal to many of the Iowans on hand enjoying the game and perhaps convince some of them to vote for him in the upcoming Iowa primary election. That may be what happened but not everyone was too thrilled with DeSantis’s appearance.

DeSantis attended the game with Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, an Iowa State alumni, and the two sat in the stands instead of in a luxury suite.

Perhaps that was meant to send a message that he is a man of the people, but some of the people around him didn’t seem to appreciate his presence.

There were certainly a lot of interesting reactions around social media about DeSantis’s appearance at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames.
