College football media days always provide for some bizarre stories, but this one may just take the cake.

Back when he was still at Wake Forest, Sam Hartman confirmed that he had to have a rib removed. Hartman, of course, missed Wake Forest’s first game of the season as he dealt with a blood clot that sidelined him for a month. At the time of his revelation, that rib was in his refrigerator and he planned to take it and turn it into a necklace.

Well, it’s nearly been eight months since then and Hartman is now the starting quarterback at Notre Dame. And yet, there’s no necklace, but don’t worry, he still has the rib in his fridge!

“The Rib is my fridge… it’s well on its way to becoming a necklace…we’re a couple [of] weeks out,” Hattman said via ESPN’s Paul Finebaum. “Just want to make sure it stays in one piece ’til then.”

Hartman clarified that his mother was currently in possession of his removed rib, as per ESPN’s David Hale. As if that somehow makes this whole ordeal better.

As you might expect, Hartman’s bizarre story took on a life of its own on social media. Of course, he already shared this same story last December, but now he plays for a national powerhouse, those in the college football world were reminded of just how ridiculous this revelation is.
