Entering the 2022 college football season, Wake Forest Demon Deacons star quarterback Sam Hartman was widely considered one of the top quarterbacks in the country after throwing for over 4,000 yards back in 2021. And after throwing for over 3,700 yards again this season, it looks like he’s on the move.

According to college football insider Pete Thamel of ESPN, Sam Hartman has entered the transfer portal. And apparently, he already has a transfer destination in mind.

“Sources: Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Notre Dame is the expected landing spot for Hartman,” Thamel said in a Tweet.

It’s pretty big news in the college football landscape, the CFB world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

“This has been expected for the past week, with Notre Dame the strongest (but not only) contender,” Notre Dame reporter Pete Sampson said in a Tweet.

“Even as a freshman, Sam was inspired by the play of Knute Rockne,” Skip Foster of The Tallahassee Democrat said in a Tweet.

“Wowwww, immediately makes ND contenders,” Tone Digs said in a Tweet.

“Buddy was scared of Vandy-Wake next season, I get it,” Simon Gibbs of Fox Sports said in a Tweet.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish appear to be the favorite, but it will be interesting to see how this situation plays out.
