The Texas Longhorns got their starting quarterback back this week as Quinn Ewers was able to return from his shoulder injury that sidelined him for the past two Texas games. And it sounds like head coach Steve Sarkisian was happy with the way his starter played in his first game back.

During a postgame chat with ESPN’s Tom Luginbill on the field after the game, Steve Sarkisian praised Quinn Ewers, saying that the quarterback “made some big-time plays.”

“I thought Quinn played pretty well,” Sarkisian told Luginbill according to On3. “Coming off that injury — made some big-time plays in some big-time moments for us. Hopefully, we can continue to get him more and more healthy as we move forward.”

Sarkisian had more praise for Ewers in his postgame press conference, saying that he thinks Ewers played about as well as he could have reasonably expected.

“Quinn, coming off of injury, I don’t know if I could have asked for much more,” Sarkisian said. “I thought he stood in the pocket. I thought he made some throws in critical moments. I’m sure we’re going to look at the tape and see plays that maybe he could have executed a little better, and that’s any game.”

We’ll have to see how Ewers continues to get more comfortable as he works his way back into the offense.
