Former Auburn starting quarterback TJ Finley announced where he will be playing this upcoming season and it is with the Texas State Bobcats.
Finley started for Auburn for most of the 2022 season before suffering a shoulder injury. It wasn’t that big of a surprise that Finley was transferring especially with the addition of Michigan State quarterback Payton Thorne to the roster.
After Finley was injured, Robbie Ashford took over the starting position, and coming into this upcoming season, many were already thinking the quarterback competition down on the Plains would come down to Ashford and Thorne, leaving Finley out of the picture.

Finley had come to Auburn from LSU after he wasn’t announced as starting QB for the Tigers. Finley was mostly inconsistent as a starter and really couldn’t get the Auburn offense moving.
At first, there were rumors that Finley would be transferring to Ohio State but clearly, he wanted to go somewhere where he had a better chance of starting.
He will be competing against quarterback transfer, Malik Hornsby, formerly of Arkansas. The Bobcats could use some help on offense. They finished 113th overall in total offense in 2022 and 80th in passing. Any help they can receive from either one of these transfers is better than what they had last year.
