Three-time college football national champion coach Urban Meyer last coached the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021.

The Jaguars fired Meyer before the season ended after he guided the team to a 2-11 record and was the subject of multiple embarrassing off-the-field incidents.

Meyer is back to working with Fox’s “Big Noon Kickoff” as a college football analyst. That’s apparently where he’ll stay, according to his statement at Ohio State’s annual coaches clinic this week.

“That book’s closed,” he said, according to the Columbus Dispatch. “It’s going to be TV and grandfather.”

Whether Meyer remains retired from coaching remains to be seen. There is always a top-tier program looking for a championship coach, and Meyer would certainly be able to demand a king’s ransom in compensation despite flaming out in the NFL.

Meyer famously retired from coaching twice with the Florida Gators, the team with which he won two national championships. He returned to the Gators program the first time before embarking on a one-year stint with ESPN after his second retirement due to health reasons.

Prior to coaching at Florida and Ohio State, Meyer coached the Utah Utes and Bowling Green Falcons. He got his start in collegiate coaching as a graduate assistant with Ohio State under former coach Earle Bruce in 1986.
