Through his first two years with the Texas Longhorns, it’s safe to say that head coach Steve Sarkisian’s teams did not exactly meet expectations. But according to three-time national champion head coach Urban Meyer, he and his team will have all the tools for a dominant season this year.

During his recent episode of Urban’s Take with Tim May podcast, Meyer had some strong praise for Texas, declaring that the Longhorns might have the most talented roster in all of college football and warning fans not to “sleep” on Texas this year.

“I think Texas, you didn’t mention them, but, you know, don’t sleep on Texas this year,” Meyer said on the podcast according to On3. “Man for man, roster against roster, it’s hard to say Texas doesn’t have the best roster in college football right now.”

Obviously, the Longhorns have had two relatively disappointing seasons under Sarkisian to start his Texas coaching career, finishing 5-7 in 2021 and 8-5 in 2022. But the Longhorns have a big opportunity this season to get over the hump and exceed expectations.

Texas will have a chance to prove itself early in the season with a Week Two matchup with the Alabama Crimson Tide. It will certainly be interesting to see how they perform.
