Saturday’s rivalry game between Virginia Tech and Virginia was a complete blowout, with the Hokies posting a dominant 55-17 victory. But while the game lacked the on-field drama that one might want to see in a rivalry game, it had a humorous postgame battle of pettiness.
Following the game, Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry brought the Hokies back onto the field, hoping to get a postgame photo. How did the Cavaliers respond? By turning the sprinklers at Scott Stadium on.
Virginia Tech play-by-plan man Bill Roth shared a photo on Twitter.
“Rivalries are amazing!” Roth tweeted. “Coach Pry brought his team back on the field to take a picture following the 55-17 win over UVA. Virginia turned the sprinklers on the Scott Stadium field. Beautiful!”

College football fans loved the pettiness that Virginia showed.

Even Virginia Tech didn’t seem to mind what Virginia did, particularly given the result of the game.
“They can do that. We’ll take the Dub and they can take the L,” Hokies receiver Stephen Gosnell said, per Andy Bitter, Tech Sideline.
