If anyone wants to feel old this weekend, look no further to a huge college football announcement on Saturday.
Willis McGahee IV, the son of the former NFL star with the same name, announced that he would be committing to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The younger McGahee is a rising senior at Miami (Fla.) Columbus High School and rates as the No. 24 linebacker and No. 232 overall recruit in the 2024 class, according to 247Sports recruiting rankings.

Though he’s from the area, McGahee surprisingly did not receive an offer from his father’s alma mater — Miami. Instead, he received offers from Power Five programs like Auburn, Indiana, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Tennessee, UCF, and West Virginia, among others.
Miami not being on this list is a bit peculiar, considering he’s a legacy recruit and right in the Hurricanes’ backyard.
His father starred at Miami, where he won a national championship in 2001 and was later named the Big East Offensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-Big East, and a Consensus All-American in 2002. The elder McGahee was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft and later played for the Broncos, Ravens and Browns, during a career that spanned over a decade in the league. He finished his career as a two-time Pro Bowler with 8,474 rushing yards on 2,095 carries and 65 rushing touchdowns.
Getting the younger McGahee on board at Nebraska is a big get for Matt Rhule and his staff.
