The adventures of Pokemon Go and the… interesting characters that are trying to catch ’em all are almost as fascinating as the adventures of “Florida Man,” America’s favorite Superhero. Our intrepid Pokemon trainers can sometimes be as dumb as they are dedicated to their newfound craft though.
A man named William Wilcox was playing the game and headed toward a police station in Milford, Michigan to find a Pokemon he presumably didn’t have. There was a catch though: he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
“Fortunately, sometimes they make our job easy for us,” Milford Police Chief Tom Lindberg said. “The original charge he had was for breaking and entering, but the warrant was for failure to appear for sentencing. He either forgot he had a warrant out for his arrest or was just ignoring it thinking nothing will happen.”
Wilcox was arrested on the spot, but he apparently wasn’t all that pleased that he was going to be taken away in handcuffs, still in his pajamas.
“I think he was more upset that he had to stop playing the game,” Lindberg said.
Wilcox has been arraigned and released, and will appear in court again in a couple of weeks. It’s doubtful that he’ll forget his next court date, but if he does the courthouse is also more than likely a Gym, in case he does.
But Lindberg has a piece of advice for other intrepid Pokemon trainers that might forget where they are in the search for an elusive Pikachu.
“Don’t just walk into the police building and start playing the game,” Lindberg said. “Most of those characters will appear outside the building.”
