Former president Donald Trump is known as an avid golfer by supporters and critics alike.

And no matter how you feel about him, it’s always big news when a former president visits your city.

Residents of Brigantine, New Jersey, thought that was the case on Friday when rumors swirled in the city of 7,600 people that Trump was playing a round of golf at the Brigantine Golf Links.

The rumors grew so intense that numerous residents contacted City Hall to inquire if the former president was really in town. Mayor Vince Sera took to social media to dispel the notion—the town had been duped by a Trump imposter.

“A number of people have contacted the City asking if the rumors are true that President Trump played golf at the Brigantine Golf Links yesterday, 4/21,” Sera wrote on Facebook. “My understanding is that it was a Trump impersonator and not the real President.”

Sera attached two pictures of the imposter, including the one below:

From close up, it’s easy to see that’s not Trump. However, from a distance, it’s also easy to see how passersby were duped into thinking they had spotted the president enjoying an afternoon round of golf in a sleepy New Jersey town.

Trump has yet to comment officially on the imposter.
