For the past few weeks, it has looked like former United States President Donald Trump would not have the opportunity to host a LIV Golf event at one of his golf courses this coming season as he had done in the past as none of his courses were featured on the Saudi-backed league’s preliminary schedule released last month. But that changed on Friday morning when Trump made a surprise announcement.

In a post on Truth Social on Friday morning, Donald Trump announced that his Trump National Doral golf course in Miami has signed a contract to host a LIV Golf championship in April of 2024.

“TRUMP NATIONAL DORAL, in Miami, has just signed with LIV GOLF to host a Championship Tournament in April, 2024. The event they had at Doral in October was a major success!” Trump said in a post on Truth Social, the social network that he helped start back in 2020 when he was banned from both Twitter and Facebook.

This is obviously a pretty major announcement in the world of golf, and as a result, it led to a lot of reactions on social media when people learned the news.

Trump National Doral is not the only Trump golf course to host a LIV Golf event. The Saudi-backed league has previously held events at both Trump National in Bedminster, New Jersey, as well as Trump National in Potomac Falls, Virginia.
