Top PGA Tour golfer Xander Schauffele recently put commissioner Jay Monahan on blast. The sixth-ranked golfer in the world in 2023, Schauffele wasn’t shy while he discussed the now-strained relationship he and others have with the commissioner. This all stems from the Tour’s announced partnership with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tour.

Schauffele spoke mostly about the lack of trust between himself, Monahan, and other PGA Tour golfers.

Golf Digest wrote, “Asked directly if his trust level in Monahan had changed, the Olympic champion was clear. ‘Yes,’ Schauffele said.”

Schauffele continued via Golf Digest. He said, “Yes they have. If you want to call it one of the rockier times on tour, the guy was supposed to be there for us. But he wasn’t. Obviously, he had some health issues. I’m glad he’s feeling much better. But yeah, I’d say he has a lot of tough questions to answer on his return. I don’t trust people easily. He had my trust, and he has a lot less of it now, and I don’t stand alone when I say that.”

He’s just one of many to feel this way, so it’s no surprise that Xander Schauffele expressed strong feelings toward Jay Monahan. The way the deal was constructed and came together received major criticism from many, both in and out of the PGA Tour. It doesn’t sound like that criticism will recede anytime soon.
