Kanye West has earned headlines in recent weeks over numerous antisemitic statements. Major companies like Adidas, Gap and Peloton Exercise have ended their relationships with the controversial rapper.

West’s unaccredited high school, Donda Academy, has not been safe from the fallout. The high school basketball team was kicked out of its last tournament for its association with West.

West has now reportedly abandoned the school, leaving many parents and students in limbo with unanswered questions.

“Our kids were being sucked in by the lifestyle of the rich and the famous,” Kenny Hooks, a Donda Academy parent of a basketball player, told USA TODAY. “They were around stars all the time.”

Things have gone from bad to worse for the program, as multiple teams scheduled to play Donda this season have replaced the beleaguered school on their schedules, the newspaper revealed. Its star player transferred last month. Its second-best player transferred hours later. Its third-best player transferred on Oct. 28th after “four major tournaments disinvited Donda.”

Donda head coach Dorrell Wright, an NBA champion in 2006 with the Miami Heat, told USA Today that he’s “just trying to figure things out.” Wright doesn’t even know how many players are on the roster.

Kanye, for his part, has refused to communicate anything with the school.
