Last season, New York Yankees star slugger Aaron Judge made some Major League Baseball history when he set a new American League record for home runs in a single season. And while he’ll undoubtedly try to repeat that dominant hitting performance this season, he’ll have some new rules to adjust to with the MLB rolling out a new pitch clock.

But even though the pitch clock will likely benefit the pitchers a little more than the hitters, allowing them to dictate the pace of the at-bat, Judge had a surprising reaction to the new rule, revealing that he actually likes the new pitch clock because he feels like it speeds up the game.

“I like it,” Yankees star Aaron Judge said according to ESPN. “I think you can kind of play around with it a little bit. I think it definitely speeds up the game. Anything that kind of keeps the pitcher moving and on the go, and hopefully keep him out of breath, I’m looking forward to it.”

Obviously, the new rules will take a bit of adjustment from both hitters and pitchers, but it’s good to see that players are appreciating the major changes even after just a few games.

We’ll have to see how this develops in the regular season.
