The MLB world is buzzing after Houston Astros general manager Dana Brown discussed a contract extension for one of the franchise’s best players. Earlier this week, the Astros agreed to a 5-year, $125 million extension for elite second baseman Jose Altuve. Now, the attention may pivot to third baseman Alex Bregman.
Bregman has been a member of the Astros for the last eight seasons. He’s pieced together a great career, hitting over .270 over the last eight years with an OPS north of .850. He’s come up clutch in the postseason and has helped the Astros to multiple World Series titles. It would be wrong to say or suggest that he doesn’t deserve an extension.
The team appears to know that… but it’s not coming anytime soon.
Brown, the Astros’ GM, addressed the media on Thursday. Among the topics were the prospect of a contract extension for Bregman.
Chandler Rome, a longtime Astros reporter, noted, “Dana Brown said his conversation with Scott Boras yesterday reiterated that there’s no timeline for Alex Bregman, but ‘at some point, we will make an offer,’ Brown said.”

Bregman is a cornerstone of the Astros, so it won’t be surprising when they decide to make a contract extension happen.
The MLB world reacted to the update after it was made public.
Ha. Jesus. Hopefully Breggy gives us an mvp level farewell season. https://t.co/DKg3uLjeSf
