Cristian Javier received a new contract extension from the Houston Astros on Friday.
The Astros extended Javier, who took part in a combined no-hitter in the 2022 World Series, for five additional years. Houston announced the move in a tweet on Friday evening.

Javier, 25, is now signed with the Astros until his age 30 season. He was previously arbitration eligible and would have declared free agency in 2026 if not for the extension. Houston signed him as an international free agent in 2015, so he will wind up being with the club for 13 years going through 2027.
He made history this past World Series, as he helped author a combined no-hitter. It was the first no-hitter in World Series history since the famed Don Larsen tossed one in 1956.
Over his three-year career, Javier is 20-12 through 78 starts. He’s posted a career ERA of 3.05 in 304.1 innings. He’s thrown 378 strikeouts, with a career-high 194 in 2022. Last season, he posted an ERA of 2.54 with those 194 strikeouts and 52 walks. Despite his 11-9 record, Javier showed tremendous growth in several categories as he ate more innings.
The hope for Houston now is that Cristian Javier becomes a key piece in the rotation as they look to reign as World Series Champions again. No team has repeated as World Series Champions since the New York Yankees in 1999 and 2000.
