Oakland Athletics manager Mark Kotsay went ballistic Wednesday after a pitch clock violation cost his team an out.
A’s third baseman Aledmys Díaz got called for an automatic strike for a pitch clock violation, resulting in a strike out to lead off the fourth against the Chicago Cubs. Kotsay wasted no time vehemently protesting the call with home plate umpire Adam Hamari.
The furious Kotsay dropped a barrage of foul language, all of it quite audible on both the NBC Sports California and Marquee broadcasts. We won’t repeat it here, but you can check out the replay. Warning: This is as blatant an NSFW video as you will ever see from a baseball game.
A's manager Mark Kotsay was very unhappy about a pitch clock violation, and the NBC Sports California and Marquee broadcasts allowed viewers to hear plenty of it. ⚾️🤬 pic.twitter.com/fD0y62GqqC

Kotsay contended that Díaz had hurt himself on the previous swing and needed time to regroup. Hamari gave Kotsay about 30 seconds to vent then got tired of the outburst and ejected him. The Athletics manager pressed on for a while before finally leaving the field.
The Athletics ended up losing, 12-2, running their mark to 3-16. Fans must look back to almost the Civil War era to find an MLB team that has gotten off to such a horrendous statistical start.
John Fisher’s reluctance to pay even one additional dime on the ballclub is the only thing keeping Scott Emerson and Mark Kotsay from being fired. #Athletics fans have never – ever – seen worse baseball than what we’ve seen in these first 20 games. https://t.co/tuLkPhQlkR

Fans thought Kotsay went too far in his protest.
And here I am worrying about the occasional F that might slip thru in a metal song on the local music radio show I produce for a 150+ market HD side channel on a low-watt translator 😹

What was the argument? The batter was nowhere near the plate at 8 seconds.

Ironically, the umpire was completely right too. Diaz was nowhere close to the batters box by the time the eight second mark came.
