Last year, Cincinnati Reds middle infielder Jonathan India was the clear pick for National League Rookie of the Year after a dominant first season with the team. And while it seemed to be the first of many future seasons with the team, it now looks like the Reds may be looking to part ways with India sooner than expected.

According to Major League Baseball insider Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Cincinnati Reds are currently shopping Jonathan India to other teams as they seek a young starting pitcher in return.

“The Reds have told other teams they are willing to trade 2021 NL ROY Jonathan India for young, controllable starting pitching, per sources. Cincinnati has a glut of young infielders (Steer, De La Cruz, McLain, Encarnacion-Strand) with more on the way (Marte, Arroyo, Collier),” Feinsand said in a tweet.

The Reds are one of the most surprising teams in the MLB this year as a result of their talented young players including infielders Spencer Steer and Elly De La Cruz. The team’s sudden surge to the top of the standings has left them in need of starting pitching while they have an excess of young talent on the infield.

Reds fans would undoubtedly be sad to see India go if it happens.
