Dinger

We’ve seen the occasional instance where a fan runs out on the field during a sporting event. This time, things got serious as a fan decided to go after a mascot. Now, police are searching for that suspect.

During Monday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals, a fan ran on top of the dugout and tackled the Colorado Rockies mascot, Dinger. The video shows Dinger dancing while the fan jumped up from the front row and tried to take down the purple dinosaur.

After Dinger was tackled and the fan was dealt with by a staffer, the dinosaur continued dancing. While the person portraying Dinger appeared unscathed, Denver police revealed that the employee was injured.

Police released a photo of the suspect hoping someone would come in with some information. The suspect kind of looks like a slightly older and slightly more homeless version of Nathan Fielder. Police are offering “up to $2,000” for info that leads to getting the suspect, who is wanted for simple assault.

It’s not exactly clear how someone was able to get on top of the dugout, tackle the mascot, get separated by someone on the team, and then get away without providing any information, but this person did just that.
