Noah Syndergaard has joined the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Dodgers and Syndergaard agreed to a one-year contract on Wednesday that will bring Thor to Chavez Ravine. After ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported the news of the deal on Twitter, MLB Network’s Jon Heyman followed up with financial details.

Passan tweeted, “Right-hander Noah Syndergaard and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement on a contract, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN. The 30-year-old Syndergaard is expected to join the Dodgers’ starting rotation.”

Heyman then added the details. He tweeted, “Syndergaard gets $13M plus incentives,” and then quoted that tweet by saying, “Noah had multiyear options for more $ elsewhere but preferred 1 year in LA. Also $1.5M incentives.”

The Dodgers have had success with pitchers of Syndergaard’s archetype, so a marriage between the two sides makes a lot of sense. LA has housed some of the best starting pitching in Major League Baseball in the last few years. While it hasn’t always translated to postseason success, the regular season has brought the Dodgers a lot of success on the mound.

The last time the Dodgers didn’t lead all of MLB in starters’ ERA was in 2018, and even then, the team led the NL. You’d have to go back to 2016 to find a time when the Dodgers’ starters’ ERA didn’t lead the NL, at least. So something is in the water in LA. Pitching coach Mark Prior has had a lot of success lately and will hope to add some more with the addition of Syndergaard.

Noah himself commented on the move on his Twitter account with a GIF.

The reactions continued around LA after Noah’s signing.
