If you didn’t know who Druw Jones’ father was, his incredible catch on Thursday may’ve served as a reminder.
MLB great Andruw Jones patrolled center field from 1996-2013. He most famously played outfield for the Atlanta Braves, with whom he gained great fame and stature with. Jones is one of, if not the greatest defensive centerfielder of all time. So it probably came as no surprise that his son holds some of that tremendous ability too.
Druw, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks, tracked and followed a fly ball into deep center field. He made a spectacular over-the-shoulder catch to end the bottom of the fifth inning in his game.
Like father, like son!

The MLB on FOX Twitter account posted the video and said that Druw made the catch “LOOK EASY.” Indeed he did as the video will tell it.
The video went viral online and garnered massive views. Its initial post on the MLB Pipeline account accumulated over 330,000 views. The post on the MLB on FOX account piled up over 125,000 views.
The MLB world reacted to the incredible play.
Former MLB outfielder Mike Cameron wasn’t a fan of the way the announcer called the play.
Maybe the worst call on a play of this caliber I’ve ever heard .. low energy will not get you a call up!🤦🏿♂️#Jonesboy #ballhawk
