Giants hot mic

The hot mic can pick up anything, and as we learned again on Saturday, sometimes they produce hilarious results. San Francisco Giants fans are not prone to the hot mic either.

The Giants are hosting the Arizona Diamondbacks for a weekend series in San Francisco. Saturday’s matchup proved to be a fun and high-scoring affair. In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Giants trailed the D’Backs, 5-3. Giants slugger Joc Pederson stood at the plate with a 2-1 count. He watched Arizona right-hander Merrill Kelly deal his pitch, and the umpire called it a strike. It was a questionable call. Then the hot mic went off.

A fan in the stands, likely favoring the Giants, shouted his thoughts. The fan declared the call comparable to “horse manure.” Beloved Giants commentators Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow chuckled through that and had no choice but to concur.

“I kind of agree with them,” Kuiper said. “I can’t argue with them,” Krukow added through laughter.

There’s a reason why Kuiper and Krukow are so beloved, not just for their contributions to the MVP Baseball series. Besides being excellent at calling the game itself, funny banter and reacting to humoring situations are big reasons why.

After the incident happened, plenty around the MLB world began to laugh at the hot mic incident at the Giants game. Not surprisingly, either, as it was one of the funnier commentary moments in a minute.
