The New York Yankees have been one of the best teams in all of baseball to start the 2022 MLB season, currently sitting at an MLB best 19-7 on the year.

A number of rainouts the past couple of days have pushed back their series against the Texas Rangers, and the two teams took part in a doubleheader on Sunday.

The first game of the doubleheader was a pitching duel throughout with excellent performances from Yankees starter Gerrit Cole and Rangers starter Dane Dunning, with each pitcher allowing just one run throughout their start.

Tied at 1-1 heading into the bottom of the 9th inning, leadoff hitter Gleyber Torres made sure that Game 2 of the doubleheader got to a timely start by hitting a walk-off home run off Rangers relief pitcher John King.

This clutch home run by Torres has certainly gotten the MLB world talking, with many extremely impressed as to the timely hitting he has produced for the Yankees so far this season.

Torres has certainly had a flair for the dramatic over the years in pinstripes. This was Torre’s seventh career walk-off hit, which totals the most in the MLB since his rookie season in 2018.

It is his second walk-off this season, as he similarly walked it off against the Cleveland Guardians just two weeks ago.

It is the perfect sendoff for the Torres family on Mother’s Day, who just had their first child back in March.

The Yankees will look to keep their impressive play going in round two later in the afternoon.
