On Friday night, Seattle Mariners pitcher Luis Castillo had a bit of fun at the expense of Los Angeles Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani.

The Mariners battled the Angels to start a weekend series in Anaheim. Castillo and Ohtani met in a battle of aces in a fun matchup of AL West foes. Castillo stood on the mound against superstar multi-time MVP Mike Trout and managed to strike him out.

Afterward, Castillo turned in Ohtani’s direction. He proceeded to celebrate, delivering a slow-motion fist pump while looking directly at Shohei.

Ohtani’s reaction was priceless. The star two-way player simply shook his head and tried not to laugh.

After the hilarious moment emerged, it quickly went viral. MLB’s post fetched over 1 million views.

“BASEBALL IS THE BEST,” Sarah Langs tweeted. Hard to disagree.

“Shohei is not only the best Baseball player in the world but also the most personable,” one fan said.

“I love his fist pumps,” one Mariner fan said.

Perhaps the most humorous thing? Ohtani went 3-for-3 off Castillo in the Angels’ 5-4 win. What’s more? Ohtani took the Mariners ace deep with a 440-foot home run! That’s just the kind of thing we’ve come to expect from the 2021 AL MVP.

So, while Luis Castillo might have made many laugh on Friday night, Shohei Ohtani might have gotten the last laugh in this battle.
