It’s not often you see an MLB player crush a baseball out of the stadium.

It happened Wednesday night at Guaranteed Rate Field. Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. got out in front of a pitch from New York Yankees starter Luis Severino and hit the ball a long, long way out of the park.

But it was way foul.

White Sox broadcaster Steve Stone seemed astonished.

“I think he hit that over the roof,” Stone said. “It was a foul ball, but he got out in front of it so much that he took it over the roof.”

It’s easy to see how Robert got so far out in front. He got an 87 mph changeup that was high and inside, when he was geared up for the fastball.

As one fan, probably a disappointed Yankees booster, noted on Twitter, “It was against Severino. Like hitting off a tee.”

Other were more impressed with the feat that you just don’t see that often.
