The Los Angeles Angels have had a season to forget this season, but as usual for the organization, there are a few bright spots that have made a huge impact this year.

Angels outfielder and pitcher Shohei Ohtani is in consideration for AL MVP this year with some impressive hitting and pitching stats, and star outfielder Mike Trout has been absolutely dominating at the plate over the past week.

Trout hit another home run in the Angels’ loss to the Cleveland Guardians on Monday, which marked his seventh consecutive game with a home run.

It has been an unprecedented run for Trout at the plate over the past week, and he has been getting it done with more than just home runs, hitting .412/.462/1.250 over his seven-game stretch.

Trout will have the chance on Tuesday to enter the history books for the most consecutive games with a home run, with the record being eight games held by Ken Griffey JrDon Mattingly, and Dale Long of eight games with a home run.

He discussed his streak following Monday’s game, saying that he is trying to let the game come naturally to him despite the enormous pressure of the potential MLB record.

“It just happens,” Trout said about the home run streak. “I just let it go. Try to have a good at-bat and get a good pitch to hit. I think about it after it happens, like you realize [the streak] is still going. But other than that, I don’t think about it.”

Trout will seemingly have a great chance on Tuesday to tie the MLB record, facing off against rookie pitcher Cody Morris, who will be pitching in just the third game of his career for the Guardians on Tuesday.
