A ridiculous diving catch from Twins shortstop Carlos Correa

Minnesota Twins star Carlos Correa hasn’t had the season that most have anticipated at the plate thus far this season, hitting for just a .234 average. However, he has always been excellent in the field, and he showed that off in Wednesday’s game against the Seattle Mariners with a ridiculous catch.

Mariners outfielder Teoscar Hernandez stepped to the plate in the bottom of the second inning against Twins starting pitcher Kenta Maeda.

It looked like Hernandez had a hit in the at-bat after hitting the ball extremely hard, but Correa came up with an absurd diving catch to rob him of a hit.

Plays like this are exactly why Correa received a Platinum Glove in 2021, which goes to the single best defender in baseball each year.

Fans took notice of the tremendous effort and gave him a ton of praise for the catch on social media.

You won’t see a better play for anyone at the shortstop position, and this shows exactly why a player like Correa is invaluable to the Twins even if his hitting numbers are up to his normal standards.

If he can continue to make excellent plays like this night in and night out, it should greatly help the Twins fend off the rest of the AL Central and make the postseason. The Twins currently sit atop the division with a two-game lead over the Cleveland Guardians.
